Description
In 1893 the French impressionist artist Claude Monet bought a plot of land next to his house in Giverny, Northern France. Monet was inspired by the water garden’s he saw in Japanese prints. The artist decided to create his own by filling an existing pond with exotic new hybrid water lilies and built a humpback bridge to run over it. The water garden and it’s lilies became the subject of over 250 paintings produced by Monet.
