This original US trade advertisement would have been in a magazine in 1958 to advertise the film. The artwork is identical to the US 41 x 27 inch poster and by the legendary graphic designer Saul Bass. This piece has been conservation paper-backed. This process is to de-acidify the paper as the original paper contained a lot of acid, which would discolour and damage the piece over time. The process involves chemically cleaning the piece and then laying it onto acid-free paper using a wheat starch glue. The process is completely archival and can be reversed. Cleverly designed by acclaimed graphic designer Saul Bass, the spinning imagery conveys a dizzy feeling of vertigo. This is one of the most iconic and sought after illustrations of the cinema genre.
